Activities to go along with "Advent Journey with Mary & Joseph"

Welcome to the activity posts for the book Advent Journey with Mary and Joseph. The idea of this book was born in 2011 when I was talking to our fifth child, Gabriela (Now Sister Marie Bernadette with the Sisters of Hawthorne) about how, when she was a toddler in Canada, I used to draw a picture of Mary and Joseph, much like the one here, and put it up on the wall of the living room and about twenty feet away I put up a recreation of the manger in Bethlehem. Between the Holy family and the manger I had cutouts of rocks strewn along the wall. Over the following weeks of Advent the children and I would move the Holy family along the path of rocks and we would imagine their journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Christ Child. Sister Marie Bernadette (Gabby) suggested that I should write a story to go along with this journey. My husband then suggested I actually publish it. With much love, sweat, and even a few tears the book was finally published in 2014 and my adventure as an INDIE publisher/author began before I even knew that was what you called it. My children worked hard on so many levels both in helping to keep the house running and with the technicalities of actually publishing the book. The daughter of my dear friend Michaela took on the task of creating the drawings that are found in the original book. We have drawn some of the items that we will be publishing here as activities for your children to use while listening to the story being read and some will be replications of the drawings from the story. I am now, with some trepidation, branching out into the kindle/ebook version of this book. The original is still available in paperback version but it is now also available on kindle and/or kindle unlimited.
